MindFusion has released the first version of its Virtual Keyboard for Java Swing component. The library provides Java developers with the ability to add keyboard functionality on any Java Swing application similar to the keyboard used on mobile devices. The component empowers software developers to:
- implement text input in keyboardless environment
- build Kiosk or POS user interfaces with a limited number of input keys
- send keys as input to external applications
- implement accessibility features for users with mobility impairments
- show common words for their application as keys in the keyboard
The component provides two keyboard layouts - default and extended and a powerful Keyboard Creator tool, which allows complete overhaul of the keyboard. Developers can design a keyboard from scratch, customize the size, count and layout of the keys This makes it easy to design a UI with buttons used by software in common scenarios like cashier desks, restaurant POS terminals, automatic airport check-in desks, ticket machines and many more. The control exposes a rich set of events for actions users perform on the keyboard.
The Virtual Keyboard component is available for free download and fully-functional trial from the MindFusion website.
