GdPicture.NET version 11

This new major version includes various enhancements of the core engine, many interface changes and new features of the document imaging, PDF, thumbnails and printing domains.

The loading speed of images has been dramatically improved.
The redistribution for .NET version has been simplified: there is now a standalone .NET assembly and separated C++ runtimes.
Starting with Framework 4 edition, UserControls are multi-threaded.

Formats

The SVG image format is now supported.

Document Imaging

Several filters have been improved in terms of speed and accuracy: punch hole removal, blob removal.
The automatic text inversion filter has been created.
The auto deskew feature has been enhanced and a new method to delete black and non-uniform margins has been added.

OMR (Optical Mark Recognition)

The OMR engine has been enhanced in terms of speed and memory consumption.

PDF

New WPF rasterizer and Hybrid engines.
The text extraction feature and the digital signature support have been improved.
Text contrast is now better rendered on documents at low zoom levels.
Selected text can be copied to clipboard, in all viewers.

Color Detection

MRC (Mixed Raster Content) support has been added to improve image compression.

Printing

A new print size option is now available to fit the page size to the paper size.

Thumbnail

The rendering speed has been dramatically increased and support for asynchronous PDF page thumbnail generation has been added.

Annotations

GdPicture/XMP annotations are now rendered as native PDF annotation so they are visible under any PDF reader.
Responsiveness of the interactive annotation editing feature has been improved.

Barcoding

The accuracy of the 1D and 2D barcode recognition engines has been improved.

MICR

The MICR font reader engine has been enhanced.
The processing time is almost divided by two on checks and the accuracy has been increased on damaged documents.

COM/ActiveX

The COM/ActiveX edition is now based on the .NET Framework 4.0.

We are pleased to announce the new release of Aspose.OCR for .NET 2.3.0. This release contains many useful improvements, including the support for Portuguese/Brazilian Portuguese language. Please refer to the release notes of v2.3.0 for a full list of bug fixes and improvements. If you are planning to upgrade the API from any previous version, we would suggest you to check the Public API Changes section first. Aspose.OCR for .NET API has extended the support for languages by including Portuguese to its neural network. In order to perform OCR operation for Portuguese language, Aspose.OCR for .NET 2.3.0 has provided the specific resources that are required by the OcrEngine to correctly identify the language specific characters. These resources are available for download in an archive at Aspose download section. Important point to note here is that while setting up OcrEngine to recognize Portuguese language characters, it is required to specify the language specific resource while using LanguageFactory.Load method and adding them to the LanguageContainer using the AddLanguage method. spose.OCR for .NET API has exposed the NotifierFactory class that allows the users to create objects of type INotifier that in turn can be used to enable the notifications during the OCR process. Along with above mentioned features, the Aspose.OCR for .NET 2.3.0 has enhanced the OMR Template Editor to load images of type GIF, BMP, TIFF, JPEG, PNG for possible optical marker extraction. The OMR Template Editor can now accept Aspose.OCR for .NET assembly without requiring the additional resources and Aspose.BarCode for .NET assembly to recognize barcodes from an OMR form. This release includes plenty of new & improved features as listed below

What's New in this Release?

Aspose development team is happy to announce the monthly release of Aspose.Words for .NET 15.1.0. This month’s release contains over 75 useful new features, enhancements and bug fixes to the Aspose.Words products. Some of the biggest features include fields Public API, new public API members for structured document tags, openDocument (ODT) import/export fidelity improvements, rendering of spacing and kerning in WordArt supported, HTML export/import improved for better round-tripping and comment numbering in rendering. We have now added a new public property HtmlSaveOptions.ExportRoundtripInformation. This option allows to convert Word document to HTML format with round-trip information. Saving of the round-trip information allows to restore document properties such as tab stops, comments, headers and footers during the HTML documents loading back into a Document object. Aspose.Words now takes spacing and kerning in WordArt objects into account during rendering to fixed page formats such as PDF. We have now opened programmatic access to Checked/Unchecked state of SDT (StructuredDocumentTag) Checkbox through StructuredDocumentTag.Checked property. We have also added capability to create StructuredDocumentTag of type SdtType.Checkbox in the public API. We have added a couple of usage examples in documentation. Please check out “shows how to set the current state of check box” and “shows how to create content control of type check box” examples in documentation. We are proud to announce public fields API v1.0 that will be exposed starting from 15.1 release of Aspose.Words. Initially, we have added the following new classes and properties to this API. All FieldXXX classes are now public. Each class corresponds to a certain MS Word field type and provides a number of properties corresponding to arguments, switches and switch arguments of that field. All field types and arguments/switches listed in the specification (except the newest ones appeared in MS Word 2013) are covered that makes it a unique solution on the market. We have introduced two property types i.e. boolean for stand-alone switches and string for arguments and arguments of switches. In defense of this approach, we can adduce the following: if we treat UI of MS Word as a visual analogue of its API, the field insertion dialog also provides checkboxes for simple switches and textboxes (without any format verification) for the rest. We have also exposed access to field format switches common for all field types via the Field.Format, Field.Format.NumericFormat, Field.Format.DateTimeFormat, and Field.Format.GeneralFormats properties. The user is now able to read or modify field format. We have introduced the new overload DocumentBuilder.InsertField(FieldType fieldType, bool updateField) which allows to insert a field by its type. We have introduced three overloads of the Paragraph.AppendField() method, each corresponding to a DocumentBuilder.InsertField() method with similar signatures. What’s new in this release?

We are pleased to announce the new release of Aspose.Diagram for Java 5.1.0. In this minor release, we have enhanced Visio diagram printing support through the printer which is connected to the local computer or available on the network. Users were not able to print Visio diagrams by using its Java version. It is now fixed. Another fix is about the conversion, the client was trying to export a VDX to PDF and PNG file formats on the Red Hat Linux Server, but the process hanged. It has also been fixed. This release also includes the most recent bug fixes along with the above enhancements. We have fixed a number of issues in this release such as VDX to PDF export hangs on Red Hat Linux Server, VDX to PNG export hangs on Red Hat Linux Server, assigning a shape to a layer and several other. What’s new in this release?

We are pleased to announce the release of Aspose.OCR for Java 2.2.0. Aspose.OCR for Java API has exposed the Whitelist property for the OcrConfig class in order to provide the feature of Character White Listing. Now the developers can add a list of characters for recognition purposes. When Whitelist property is not null or empty, the OcrEngine recognizes only the specified characters while skipping everything else on the input image. The list of characters can be added to the OcrConfig class using its Whitelist property to enable this feature. Aspose.OCR for Java API has now exposed the PreprocessedImages class that allows the users to see how original input image is transformed during the OCR pre-processing steps.PreprocessedImages class has some useful properties that can retrieve the image at any particular stage of the OCR pre-processing. Aspose.OCR for Java API allows to extract the text either as a whole or by parts whereas each part has its own Style, Font, Text Size and Location in the image, and all of this information can easily be extracted using the IRecognizedPartInfo and IRecognizedTextPartInfo class. The API also allows retrieving the hierarchy of each recognized part on the image as TextBlock, Line, Word or Character. Hierarchy of the recognized part can be extracted using the TextPartLevel class that has been exposed to the public API with this release. The IRecognizedTextPartInfo class has two useful properties such as Level and Children that provides the access to the hierarchical level and lower level textual parts respectively. What’s new in this release?

We are pleased to announce the new release of Aspose.Diagram for .NET 5.1.0. We enhanced this to retrieve diagram headers and footers in a more convenient way. Besides above new enhancement, we also bring improvements in exporting Visio diagrams to any other supported formats. It’s a continuous activity to chase upgrades in Microsoft Office Visio and dealing with the most complex diagrams. Users can manage headers and footers using our rich Aspose.Diagram APIs. In some specific cases, APIs was not able to preserve headers and footers when saving in PDF file format. We have fixed such issues in this enhancement. Visio diagrams can hold much more information, so it is possible in Aspose APIs to export a Visio diagram for use in another application. We’re including fixes of the converting feature almost in the each release, its the big area to work with many file formats. So these fixes improve Aspose APIs, quality, performance and customization levels. What's New in this Release?

We are happy to share the announcement of Aspose.Slides for .NET 15.2.0. This is major maintenance release in which we have resolved certain issues incurring in the product. We have addressed many text and image rendering issues in this new release that occurred in charts, tables, Smart and AutoShape. We have also improved the right to left text rendering support include Hebrew language rendering. Many of chart elements rendering issues including chart titles, axis text, legends and chart labels have been addressed for different type of charts. The rendering performance has been significantly improved for generated thumbnails, exported Pdf and SVG files. We have also resolved issues related to slide cloning that earlier resulted in missing data in cloned slides. The support for removing the macros has also been improved in this release. The more details about the feature can be observed in article Removing VBA Macros in Presentation. We have resolved the issues that appeared while accessing, saving and rendering presentation to PDF, HTML or slide thumbnails, which resulted in different exceptions like UnexpectedFontParsing Exception , SystemOutOfMemory Exception , NullReference, ArgumentException, PptxReadException, ObjectReferenceException,and IndexOutOfRange in previous releases. The issue of presentation repair message appearing in Aspose.Slides generated presentations when viewed in different PowerPoint versions has also been addressed and resolved in this release. MadCap Flare 11.0 Adds New Features to Give Users a Modern, Interactive Experience – Online and in Print

Responsive, Website-Like HTML5 Output
Version 11.0 builds MadCap Flare’s HTML5 output capabilities to enable the creation of “frameless” HTML5 output that more closely resembles a modern website. By departing from the more traditional tri-pane Help output, authors can deliver online guides and Help systems that complement the look and feel of their main websites. Flare 11.0 also includes templates to help authors customize and migrate their previous tri-pane HTML5 targets to the new model.

Additionally, the responsive design functionality first introduced in 2014 with Flare 10.0 has been enhanced in Flare 11.0 with the “device-width media queries” feature. This allows authors to more readily design their output to have the display change based on whether the screen used belongs to a computer, tablet, or mobile phone.

Universal 3D Output
MadCap Flare now supports U3D files for 3D modeling, which allows authors to create PDF and Web outputs featuring realistic, interactive images. Writers can add 3D models to their PDF and online outputs working with the same workflows they would use to add other multimedia types. Additionally, authors can embed a 3D model in a topic or snippet, or link to the model using a hyperlink.

Embedded Videos
With MadCap Flare 11.0, writers can now add YouTube and Vimeo movies to Web-based outputs, whether they are movies stored on these sites by the organization or third-party movies from these providers. Movies from YouTube and Vimeo can be embedded into a topic or snippet, providing the ability to use advanced settings to determine whether a movie will play automatically and what kind of information to display on the movie. Movies also can be hyperlinked, so that a movie is only played when a user clicks on the text and is sent to the host’s website to view the movie.

Support for Augmented Reality
With version 11.0, MadCap Flare becomes the first technical authoring tool to add support for augmented reality, making it easier than ever for end-users to access supplemental information. Through integration with Metaio Creator, Flare-based content can allow users to scan an element of content with a mobile device and access additional material—such as audio, video, 3D models, or animations—from another source. The augmented reality is presented as an image that is embedded in Flare-based content and then exported to Metaio Creator.

MadCap Flare 11.0 Delivers New Features For Empowering Content Authors With Greater Efficiency and Control

Concurrent Builds
In previous releases of MadCap Flare, authors could build output either in the user interface or in the background via Madbuild, Flare's compilation engine, in the command line. Flare 11.0 introduces a new option: the ability to build output in the background via Madbuild in the user interface. Quicker and easier than using the command line, this new functionality enables authors to continue working in their projects while generating one or more targets behind the scenes. Significantly, authors can also limit or expand the number of targets that can be generated in the background at the same time, providing control over computer resource demands.

Absolute Positioning
Absolute positioning in Flare 11.0 gives authors unprecedented control over where content elements—including images, HTML div tags, paragraphs, and more—appear in a topic for PDF or online output. Absolute positioning can be accomplished via styles or locally by selecting text wrap options in a context (right-click) menu of the XML Editor. Authors can specify an element’s location and resize it. Additionally, writers can use the z-index property in conjunction with absolute positioning to drag and drop an element exactly where they want it to appear within the text.

PDF Stitching
Through the PDF Stitching feature, authors can now stitch existing PDFs into one cohesive output target simply by adding links to them in a table of contents (TOC). The functionality is supported in PDF output and all of the online targets available with Flare.

Doc-To-Help Integration
MadCap Flare 11.0 adds integration to Doc-To-Help, the software for multichannel publishing of Microsoft Word-based content that MadCap Software acquired earlier this year, giving customers greater flexibility to use both products. Authors can now create new projects by importing Doc-To-Help files (with a .d2h extension) with a few mouse-clicks using either Flare’s Ribbon or Tool Strip view.

Expanded Source Control
MadCap Flare 11.0 extends source control support to include integration with the Git distributed version control system, enabling authors to perform day-to-day source control operations, such as check-in, checkout, and change history without leaving Flare. In addition to native support for Git, Flare offers native support for Microsoft Team Foundation Server, Microsoft Visual SourceSafe, Apache Subversion (SVN), and Perforce. Flare also allows authors to use third-party plug-ins to support other source control solutions.

Jelastic launches support for production-ready Docker, .NET/Windows, environment export/import and websockets

Windows Containers

Within the confines of this prominent feature, the following servers became available for the newly added .NET programming language, enabling easier automation of deployment:

- Internet Information Services (IIS) 8.0 application server for handling .NET apps, which supports both Microsoft´s .NET framework and ASPX scripts

- Microsoft 2012 SQL Server (Express edition), intended for storing data and managing SQL databases with the help of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

- Windows VPS server with the pure Windows Server 2012 OS (and 2008 version optionally installed)

- Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) access to containers providing remote control over Windows environments

Environment Export and Import

The current Jelastic release includes one more feature, which exempts customers from any lock-in: Environment Export/Import. It allows easy migration of the hosted applications between different Jelastic installations. A user simply needs to export environments and import them to the preferred platform. During the export, all of the information about the environment topology and application settings is packed into a single .json file. WebSockets

Jelastic version 3.1 provides advanced and improved WebSockets support. This technology has been integrated to the Jelastic Shared Load Balancer, so for now, websockets can be used even without the need to buy an external IP address.

Planned features to be implemented in 2015 Currently Jelastic team is actively working on the integration of Rocket, the container technology from CoreOS, that is the next evolutionary version of a container with security, composability and reliability. Rocket is the first implementation of the Application Container spec, which defines an image format, image discovery mechanism and execution environment that can exist in several independent implementations.

Jelastic plans to move forward in the direction of Rocket and support the Application Container spec, together with the CoreOS team. The team believes that a strong focus on the application container standard will expedite the next stage of the container evolution.

For over two years we've created and supported a modern, free and easy to use OS without backdoors.

Overview

OpenMandriva is a non-profit association, a fully independent organization that manages, governs and develops its own Linux Distribution, it’s roots are in the Mandrake-Mandriva community. We have been developing this operating system for two years. Our contributors are all volunteers, who believe and invest in the world of free software which aims to produce software which is free of any backdoors (spyware). Our legal headquarters is in France, but our contributors and members come from 30 countries from all around the world.

We believe that operating system should be free for the user, adaptable to their needs, technically advanced but at the same time easy to use. What We Need & What You Get

The effort needed to create these release is all done by volunteers drawn from all over the world. We need funds to support our infrastructure (primarily for hosting the servers), for occasionally buying development hardware when necessary (such as contemporary ARM boards) and to represent our work at some of the major Open Source events (for example FOSDEM, LinuxTag) , to exchange knowledge, promote our work and learn of new and upcoming innovations that we can incorporate in our system. The total amount needed to keep these activities going is $27, 500 USD for the year 2015.

For now we are running this campaign with a lower target of $15, 000 USD and hope that that we can call on your help to help reach the needed amount!

We do believe that thousands of our users and those who will become users, or those who simply support good Open Source products will make it happen. In case we do not reach full target, whatever the amount achieved it will be spent for the same purposes, we will just have money for smaller time period.

Risks & Challenges

What are the risks? That the development of the system is not completed is the only possible risk, which is at almost 0, since the community is continuing to grow with new contributors joining, this has been progressing for over 2 years now. There is no great risk for the project as long as we can raise the necessary fund to maintain our webservers and keep our infrastructure.
